Siccome riteniamo dovuto ogni sforzo per aiutare la ricerca scientifica,  Riportiamo qui di seguito, un'appello della Dott.sa E. Dietschi, genetista svizzera di fama mondiale, impegnata nello studio sullo Shunt Portosistemico, patologia che colpisce soprattutto i cani di grossa taglia.

In collaboration with the Universities of CH-Berne (Professor T. Leeb), NL-Utrecht (Professor J. Rothuizen) and D-Giessen (Professor R. Neiger)

Funded by the ‚Gesellschaft zur Förderung kynologischer Forschung‘ (GKF) together with the ‚Rassezuchtverein für Hovawart-Hunde, e.V.‘ (RZV) and the Hovawart-Zuchtgemeinschaft Deutschland, e.V.‘ (HZD).

The first part of the project is completed. A genome-wide association analysis was performed. The data look really promising and a putative candidate genome region with the causative mutation was identified.

In the next immediately following second part of the project this association has to be confirmed and the region of the mutation has to be narrowed down (‘fine-mapping’).

For the third part (identification of the causative mutation) we still need blood samples from dogs with shunt, their parents and siblings.

Metaphorical speaking we can say the first part has shown us the ‘street where the shunt lives’. In the second part we look for ‘the building where the shunt lives’ and in the third part we would look for ‘the specific apartment where the shunt lives’.

La prima parte del progetto è completata. L’analisi dell’associazione gnomica allargata è stata completata. I dati sono veramente molto promettenti ed è stata identificata una  regione sede presumibile del genoma con le mutazioni causate.

Prossimamente nell’immediato futuro della seconda parte del progetto questa associazione dovrà essere confermata e la regione della mutazione sarà ristretta (mappatura specifica).

Per la terza parte (identificazione delle cause della mutazione) abbiamo bisogno ancora di campioni di sangue provenienti da cani con lo shunt, dei loro genitori e dei loro fratelli.

Metaforicamente parlando possiamo dire che la prima parte ci ha mostrato “la strada nella quale vive lo shunt”. Nella seconda parte stiamo cercando “il palazzo nel quale vive lo shunt” e nella terza parte ci proponiamo di cercare “lo specifico appartamento nel quale vive lo shunt”.

Vi terremo informati circa i progressi del progetto.

Come potrete leggere e' vietato l'addestramento di cani che ne esalti l'aggressivita', (Art.2.1.a),  L' Addestramento sportivo, se ben effettuato, stimola esclusivamente l'istinto naturale di predatorieta', istinto che non ha nulla a che vedere con l'aggressivita'.L'addestramento sportivo non rende i cani pericolosi, al contrario, ne esalta le qualita' di obbedienza.

 Invitiamo chiunque abbia dubbi in tal senso a venirci a trovare in allevamento, vi dimostreremo quanto non siano pericolosi i nostri cani che lavorano.
